Discovery is a visual tribute to the courage, brilliance, and sheer grit of the explorers who once set off into the unknown. Inspired by the expeditionary journals, ancient maps, and celestial tools of navigators like Magellan, Polo, and Cook, this collection honors a time when the world was uncharted — and the stars were the only compass.

In today’s hyper-mapped reality, these pieces rekindle the awe of open seas and undiscovered coasts. The palette reflects this reverence: deep ocean blues, the worn browns of antique parchment, burnished golds, and the rusted tones that mark the passage of time. Each work is layered with intention — an echo of a weathered map, the shadow of a compass rose, and within the depths, fragments of journal entries, coordinates, formulas, and factoids uncovered during my research. These embedded elements act as quiet artifacts, waiting to be discovered by the curious eye.

Spanning works like 70 Fathoms (24x36), Courses (30x30), Uncharted (24x24), Silken Road (11x14), and more, the collection evokes the mystery and momentum of journeys that changed the shape of our world. These explorers didn’t just chart coastlines — they connected continents, opened trade routes, and shared ideas and cultures that continue to shape our lives today.

Discovery is both an homage and a reflection — a reminder that even now, the spirit of exploration lives on in those willing to seek, to question, and to navigate by their own stars.
